In their own words - Gugu Khoza

My experience at Jeppe Girls is one that I will treasure: it has fun and educational in many aspects. Since I began primary school, I always looked forward to being a Jeppe Girl. I was always intrigued by the atmosphere of the school - its ability to retain high standards in academics and as well as the passion put  into cultural activities and sports. It just seemed like the perfect place to inspire myself to grow.

I was only able to attend this school because of the Ruth First Scholarship. Finding out that I had received the scholarship was only the first of many great experiences. Other highlights included attending productions such as 'Swan Lake' and 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat'. The initiation of our mentor groups was also an enlightening experience. I discovered more about my peers and learnt that we all go through similar situations. Our mentors offered great support and awesome advice as well.

My time at Jeppe has consisted of a multitude of unforgettable and enjoyable moments such as our swimming galas and fun runs where I managed to make it into the top 10 at one point. Being part of the choir was stunning especially during performances and one of the most exhilarating moments was when we performed our group dances in grade ten.

My plan for tertiary is to study a health sciences related course such as Bachelor of Medicine. I am certain that my time at Jeppe will come in handy in working diligently and becoming successful in my future endeavors.
