Applications

Our criteria for selection include academic excellence, characteristics of leadership, courage, determination, and the ability to influence their community positively.

Applicants must qualify for a 100% school fee exemption in terms of the GDE regulations. In 2024, this equates to a maximum gross family income below R420  000 per annum.

Applicants must be nominated by their primary school principal. The deadline for nominations is generally in March of each year.

Ruth First scholarships are highly prestigious, and the process is competitive. The decisions of the selection panel are final and are not subject to appeal.

A maximum of two potential candidates may be nominated by a school.

There are more than 145 feeder schools,  which fall within the broader feeder area of the school.

If you are interested in the scholarship, ask your principal about it.

If your school is not on our mailing list, your principal can sign up here.
