This month we say a fond farewell to Lauren Dicks and welcome Christine Tamukedde to the team.

As we prepare to say goodbye to Lauren Dicks at the end of June, our treasured Ruth First Administrator/Fundraiser, we do so with heartfelt thanks and admiration.
Lauren has played an extraordinary role in the life of the Ruth First Jeppe Memorial Trust. More than handling day-to-day tasks, she has been a steady guide, a supportive mentor, and a source of warmth and encouragement to every Ruthie she’s encountered.
From quietly uplifting the girls through their highs and lows to strengthening our ties with donors and supporters, Lauren’s dedication has left a profound mark. Her commitment has helped open doors and create opportunities that will continue to shape lives long after her departure.
Lauren, your kindness and care have meant the world. While I’ll miss you dearly, the legacy you leave behind will be felt for years to come.
Welcome Christine!

Meet Our New Administrator – Christine Tamukedde!
Hello everyone!
My name is Christine Tamukedde, and I’m excited to be joining the Ruth First Jeppe Memorial Trust as the new Administrator.
Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of working on initiatives that support women entrepreneurs, as well as programmes that offer healing and empowerment to victims and survivors of Gender-Based Violence. Whether it is helping women break into new markets or supporting their personal recovery journeys, I’ve seen firsthand the power of what’s possible when people are given the right tools and opportunities.
I’m passionate about making sure more young women have access to those same life-changing opportunities. That’s why being part of a Trust that champions the education of girls and honours the legacy of Ruth First feels especially meaningful to me.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Human Sciences and Social Services, a BCom Honours in Industrial and Organisational Psychology, and I’m currently studying towards an Honours degree in Psychological Counselling from UNISA. In my spare time, I have been accused of enjoying one too many good books or watching series that go on forever! However, when the weather allows, taking my overactive maltese, Casper, for a walk in the park and playing ‘bring the ball’ are the order of the day.
At the heart of all my work is a deep passion for people—and more specifically, creating spaces where women and girls can thrive. In my role, I’m hoping to play a key part in the day-to-day operations of the Trust, while also exploring new ways to connect with our scholars, alumnae, and partners. I look forward to learning from this incredible community and contributing to the ongoing impact of the Trust’s work.
Here’s to a journey ahead filled with purpose, possibility, and a whole lot of heart.
Warm Regards,
Christine Tamukedde
