We will rise with the Ndlovu Youth Choir

Our annual theatre outing took us to Montecasino to watch the Ndlovu Youth Choir at the beginning of October. It was such a treat to be out and in a real theatre, and the production delivered on every level: outstanding voices, South African pride, social commentary, and lots of fun. After the show, our girls brought the front of house to a standstill as they sang, “We will rise” to the cast who came out to greet the audience.

“I absolutely loved today🥺. If time travel were to exist, I would go back a million times. This was my first concert, and it is my most memorable. I got to take pictures with a few Ndlovu youth choir and even sang for them. I enjoyed it so much and I thank everyone who played a role in making it possible for us to go there.” Keamogetswe Edom, RF 2021

“It was a really fun experience and a first for me seeing a live performance. Things we usually see on our television, to seeing it live was great 😊 I would do ANYTHING to experience it again especially with the Ruthies.” Thembelihle Nxumalo, RF 2022

“I’m thankful to the RF family for affording us the opportunity to get to watch the talented choir perform today. It was rejuvenating and much needed as the past school term had been long and draining. Many thanks to Jackie, Ms Tladi, Ms Bosch and Lydia.” Tina Kunene, RF 2019

“Today was marvellous. I had so much fun. The Ndlovu Youth Choir reminded me of the beauty of South Africa. It show-cased our South African culture and talent in music perfectly and gave me a strong sense of pride as I walked outside the theatre with my fellow Ruthies. The atmosphere was cheerful, and I felt that it was a relaxing experience after a stressful academic term. From the breath-taking lights to the incredible choreography and angelic voices that I heard today, everything was perfect! I felt so empowered when everybody sang 'We will rise' as it portrayed the unity and sisterhood that the Ruthies share. It was a memorable and happy experience that I will forever treasure." Sheridyn Naidoo, RF 2021

“Thank you so much for today, it really was so fun. The time went by so quickly that I couldn’t believe the concert was ending already. The Ndlovu Youth Choir are amazing and at no point today was I bored. This is going to be the highlight of my holiday." Sokhna Diop, RF 2020

"I really enjoyed the concert. My favourite part was after the show when we sang 'We will rise' with two of the members from the choir. They were shocked that we knew the lyrics word for word.” Nokukhanya Magagula, RF 2021
